When electronics are improperly disposed and end up in landfills, toxic chemicals are released, impacting the earth's air, soil, water and ultimately, human health. Epsilon’s efforts enables the ever increasing burden on landfills and our environment.
E-waste is any old, unused or broken electronic appliance including computers, mobile phones, printers and related consumables such as batteries. According to a 2020 report by the CPCB, India generated 1,014,961 tonnes of e-waste in FY 2019-2020, out of which only 3.6% and 10% were actually collected in the country in 2018 and 2019, respectively. The e-waste fraction of waste is growing between 9% and 12% each year, globally, making it one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world. It is a health and an environmental hazard if not disposed and/or handled properly.
